Customs seize smuggled cigarettes
A smuggling operation went up in smoke when Customs officers seized 11,180 illegally-imported cigarettes from a garage.
The cigarettes, accounting for over €2,000 in unpaid duty, were found in Birkirkara on Wednesday following the discovery of smuggled cigarettes in a shop.
All the cigarettes were confiscated and the case has been referred to the police for further investigation.
