Jones to make comeback at Moscow event

Australia's Olympic swimming champion Leisel Jones will make her return to international racing at the FINA World Cup meet in Moscow this weekend.

Jones has not competed since last year's Beijing Olympics, where she won gold in the 100 metres breaststroke and medley relay and silver in the 200 breaststroke, after opting to take a break in the hope of returning fresh for the 2012 London Olympics.

The 24-year-old skipped this year's world championships in Rome but is ready to make her comeback and plans to also enter meets at Stockholm, Berlin and Singapore before returning to Australia.

"Despite having a break from major international competition she hasn't really stopped training and has been in a maintenance stage for some time now," her coach Rohan Taylor said in a statement yesterday.

"The racing will also give us a clear indication of the things we need to focus on."
