As winter creeps in, outdoor gigs, concerts and live jam sessions come to an abrupt halt.
Yet, winter brings a different array of music events for those keen on a night out with a difference. So for those looking for an ulterior sensorial experience... of some kind, Teatru Unplugged (TU) could be the answer.
The event, held at the Manoel Theatre, in Valletta, aims at showcasing different music genres in an attempt to satisfy the varying musical tastes of the audience.
Produced by Jonathan Shaw and Nirvana Azzopardi, this year's TU will be taking place in the last weekend of November, namely between November 27 and 29.
Mr Shaw explained how TU was actually inspired by an article that had appeared in The Times showing the dwindling number of theatre-goers and the scarcity of youngsters in the audiences of such events.
Although the line-up every year varied, there were a few repeats and others, like Gianni et al, who had "almost become fixtures" of TU, said Mr Shaw.
He happily says that TU has, over the years, secured quite a wide following not only among music enthusiasts or connoisseurs but also among artistes who hope to be able to make it on stage in one of the future editions.
This year's line up of performers will feature 14-year old pianist Lara Dimech, who is also being party sponsored by TU to further her musical knowledge and practice; Carrie, who will be giving her first Malta performance since her move to London; 8 Ugly, former winners of Toni Sant's Mużika Mod Ieħor award for best online release and former nominees for best newcomers at the Bay Music Awards; Eve Random; percussionist Renzo Spiteri accompanied by Jes Psaila and British singer, pianist and accordion player Ben Murray; and, finally, Peter & Papps, featuring a guest appearance by Gianni and Eric Wadge.
Mr Shaw said that this year's TU would also feature an after-event on every night of the show. The organisers have managed to persuade Café Premier to remain open especially for the artistes and audience to be able to mingle, ensuring that the event extends beyond 10.30 p.m.
