Increase in passenger movements at MIA
Malta International Airport registered a 0.1 percent increase in passenger movements in October but the first 10 months of the year resulted in an average decrease of 7.3 percent when compared to the corresponding period last year.
The total passenger movements on scheduled and non-scheduled flights in October was of 280,364 an increase of 173 passengers when compared to October last year. The aircraft movements and cargo and mail figures registered an increase of 5.2 percent and 12.3 percent, respectively.
Passenger traffic for Malta’s main markets – the UK, Italy and Spain increased by 0.2 percent, 19.6 percent and 31.6 percent, respectively. Decreases were registered from Germany (-7.1 percent) and France (-1.6 percent).
The busiest day in October was the 13th in terms of passengers with 11,680 movements and the 11th in terms of aircraft (96).
