Allow me to join the chorus. Yes indeed we need a new Parliament. It must not remain in the President's Palace.

There is never a good time to build or rebuild icons.

As to the opera house, I firmly believe that it should be rebuilt, same exterior but no doubt with a modernised multi-purpose functional interior. On November 22, 2004 I wrote in these columns that Parliament House should be built on the site of the Main Guard; this is the most appropriate place for it.

I have not changed my mind. But most of all, the city bus terminus, the biggest eyesore in Malta, must be remodelled even before these two new essential projects are tackled.
