The journalist who wrote Turn Down That Racket (November 3) failed to monitor the noisiest places of all: Buġibba and Qawra. This area is an open disco in summer. It is impossible to stay at Buġibba square with the continuous and excessively loud music coming out of Miracles Bar.

No one seems to be able to stop it. When contacted, the Environment DG in Brussels referred me to the Malta Board of Standards. And MEUSEC said it was not their business.

Apparently, excessive disco music is not included in noise abatement in the EU. So people on the street are forced to listen to loud noise, as if entertainment complexes have some right over the open air.
