Full-timers drop by over 1,100

The number of people in full-time employment in June was down by 1,179 to 144,743 over the same month in 2008, according to the National Statistics Office.

An increase of 1,412 people among the registered unemployed was also recorded, bringing the total to 7,273.

The labour supply amounted to 152,016 people, an increase of 233 over 2008.

Full-time workers in the manufacturing sector fell by 2,307 while the number of people employed in the services sector increased by 1,651.

Part-time workers rose by 1,966, totalling 49,873. The main increase was registered in wholesale and retail trade as well as education.
