A 35-year-old Angolan allegedly caught with 350 grams of cocaine hidden in a pair of shoes was yesterday remanded in custody after he pleaded not guilty to importing the drug.

Louis Miguel Da Silva Simues Rosa, 35, was stopped at the airport on his arrival from Brussels on Tuesday. He was intercepted by Customs officers and police drug squad personnel.

He was carrying a Portuguese identity card. Assisted by legal aid lawyer Renzo Porsella Flores, Mr Rosa, who appeared before Magistrate Silvio Meli, pleaded not guilty to importing the drug.
