Prison inmate fined
A prisoner who was found in possession of a tube related to drug taking and a piece of foil with traces of heroin while in the showers of division three at Corradino Correctional Facility was fined €437, yesterday.
Prison warden David Scerri testified that 29-year-old Jason Mifsud was found in possession of a piece of foil and a tube, which is usually used to take drugs, while in the showers of division three on January 24, 2003.
Another prisoner, 34-year-old Dominic Azzopardi, had also been charged with possession of heroin but was found not guilty after the court said there was nothing concrete to convict him on.
Magistrate Lawrence Quintano said Mr Mifsud was also charged with relapsing, however, since the relevant judgments were not presented, he could not be found guilty of the charge. Police Inspector Abraham Zammit prosecuted.

But have the authorities carried out investigations in order to find how the drug managed to find itself inside the prison? I think that this is a very prudent question to ask!!
