Glowing record of Mqabba band club's president

The Mqabba local council annually presents the Gieħ l-Imqabba award which goes to persons who have contributed in various ways to the village life in general. Teddy Farrugia was awarded Gieħ l-Imqabba 2009 during a soirée organised by the council on October 24 at the Mqabba primary school hall in commemoration of Jum l-Imqabba.

Mr Farrugia has been at the helm of the Our Lady of Lilies Musical Society of Mqabba since 1984, so this year was particular for him since he commemorated the silver jubilee from his appointment as president.

Many were the achievements for the society during the last 25 years under Mr Farrugia's presidency. He contributed towards better feast celebrations, one of the main characteristics of Mqabba, and introduced several initiatives that were unknown to other Maltese band clubs. His ideas and deep sense of leadership permitted the society he represents to retain its rank among the most well organised societies of its kind all over the islands.

On behalf of the various sections making up the Our Lady of Lilies Musical Society and the Mqabba residents we congratulate Mr Farrugia and wish him further successful work within the society and the village community.
