We understand that a full development application has been made to Mepa to turn the public latrines outside the Meridien Hotel, a site known as Ir-rampa ta' San Ġiljan, into a "green" bus terminus.

This application was made without consulting the residents in the Balluta area and that is why the Balluta residents have taken umbrage. A bus terminus which existed in Spinola Bay is now being transferred to Balluta Bay. We can be assured, no matter how modern, that it will be a real eyesore in Balluta Bay.

The mayor, Peter Bonello, keeps insisting that there is a lot of misinformation going round on what he wants to do.

So when shall he enlighten us as to his plans for Balluta? When the permit is issued?

We wish to inform the mayor that the Balluta residents have formed an association and we humbly suggest that any future schemes and plans that affect Balluta be discussed beforehand. This will ensure the smooth running and credibility of the affairs of the local council.
