Malta registered two new cases of AIDS, seven new cases of HIV and 34 cases of gonorrhoea in the first six months of the year, Social Policy Minister John Dalli told Parliament yesterday.

Answering a question by Adrian Vassallo (PL), Mr Dalli said that there were also 24 confirmed cases of A (H1N1) influenza, eight probable cases and one possible case.

There were 171 cases of chickenpox, 124 of scarlet fever, 232 cases of different food poisonings and five cases of syphilis, both primary and secondary.
