Government to seek fresh bids for superyacht facility

None of the bids submitted for the privatisation of the Malta SuperYacht Facility of Malta Shipyards Ltd have been found satisfactory, the government said.

It said the Privatisation Unit will be asking the bidders to re-submit fresh bids.

All the bidders were informed of the decision today.

I am not against wind turbines or solar panels or any type of alternative energy, but have you any idea what the Superyacht Industry does for the local economy and the number of businesses who gain both directly and indirectly? This is exactly the type of niche tourism Malta requires and often leads to yacht owners and crew investing in our country.

Would you invest for Zero profit?
If 'Yes' please be our guest and bid.
If 'No' then you know exactly what to do with your suggestion.

Yes definitely a good revamp is required - Malta should promote investment in solar ( PV) power and research thereto - one might wonder whetehr PVs on sea barges could effectively be cost efficient and research into such technology could provide a cutting edge competitive advantage for the future. Yachts should still be repaired and furnished in Maltese facilities... one may wonder whether we should move all such facilities to the Grand Harbour making the Senglea Creek a Mediterranean yachting centre and transforming the Birgu-Isla Creek into Heritage Maritime Park ... forget super tankers, maybe refurbishing cruise liners is much the better

How about the Yard making super wind and solar systems to be sold at cost price.
