Customs seize 44,000 cigarettes
More than 1,000 packets of undeclared cigarettes were found on board a fishing boat by the Customs Department on Saturday.
The department said the boat’s captain failed to declare 44,000 cigarettes as he entered Grand Harbour. The cigarettes were confiscated and the fishing boat was not allowed to leave.
It is understood the duty due amounted to more than €7,000.
