Former Nationalist MP dies aged 65

Former Nationalist member of Parliament Joe A. Grima passed away yesterday at the age of 65.

Mr Grima, who was born in Żebbuġ on July 29, 1944, was a public relations consultant by profession and sat in the House of Representatives MP between 1983 and 1987.

He also served as a civil servant, an assistant general secretary of the Malta Employers Association, director and chairman of the Impact Group, honorary secretary of the Institute of Directors and was a member of the Institute of Public Relations in the United Kingdom.

Mr Grima had set-up and was the first leader of the Moviment Qawmien Letterarju. He was an avid reader and wrote various political, social and economic articles in several journals.

Married to Rita née Scicluna, he had three sons, Claude, Christopher and Clive, and lived in Mosta, where he died.

Mr Grima will be buried tomorrow at St Andrew's Cemetery, Żebbuġ, following Mass at 7.45 a.m. at St Philip parish church.
