44,000 cigarettes found hidden in launch
A fishing boat has been seized pending further investigations after 44,000 cigarettes were found hidden on board last Saturday.
The Customs Department said today that the cigarettes were found during a raid by its inspectors. The captain had failed to declare them. The launch, which is Egyptian-registered, was berthed in Grand Harbour. The tax due was €7,000.
The cigarettes were confiscated.
