Alan Deidun, who is a columnist for The Sunday Times, was the overall winner of this year's 'The Outstanding Young Person' (TOYP) award, organised by Junior Chamber International (JCI) Malta.
The TOYP award serves to for-mally recognise young people who excel in their chosen field and exemplify the best attributes of the world's young people. The award aims to encourage youths to seek excellence and serve others - a means by which JCI hopes to prepare better leaders who will in turn create better societies.
This programme has been organised for the past six years in Malta and has had overall winners in various fields - Simon Busuttil, Marija Schranz, Sylvana Brannon, Tonio Fenech, Nicholas Sammut and, this year, Alan Deidun.
Seen in the photo are Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry president Helga Ellul, British High Commissioner Louise Stanton, Dr Deidun, 2009 JCI Malta national president Maria Zahra, KPMG Malta senior partner Joseph Schembri and HSBC Malta head of strategic planning Peter Calleya.
