Environmental permitting: General binding rules (6)

GBR No.9 - Motor vehicle and boat repair services group

The most relevant environmental issues arising at garages and repair facilities in Malta are related to site tidiness and litter/scrap, waste management, and nuisances from odours, fumes and noise.

Such environmental concerns are regulated through conditions set out in this general binding rule.

Small scale enterprises involved in the repair, maintenance and manufacture of motor vehicles and pleasure and sporting boats and the retailing of motor, all fall within scope of the conditions set out in this GBR.

GBR No.10 - Clothing group

The environmental conditions set out in this general binding rule are aimed at improving the environmental performance of small scale enterprises involved in the manufacture of clothing, and the coating/dying of fur and leather products.

These proposed GBRs have been drawn up by MEPA with the aim of assisting small scale businesses to achieve compliance with national environmental laws while avoiding excessive administrative burden.

Both the proposed GBRs and Guidance Notes are being made available on Mepa website www.mepa.org.mt/gbrs. Comments can be sent to the Authority through e-mail address: gbr@mepa.org.mt by not later than December 7.
