Zoo creatures are being given their own carved pumpkins as a Halloween treat. Raccoons, an eagle owl, squirrel monkeys, meerkats and ring-tailed lemurs at Bristol Zoo Gardens enjoyed playing with and eating the Jack O’Lanterns yesterday. John Partridge, senior curator of animals, said pumpkins are a great source of vitamins for the animals, as well as a fun toy. The zoo is also holding a bangless bonfire night with silent fireworks which do not scare the animals on November 5 and 6.
