Refuse truck driver in critical condition
The driver of a refuse collection truck is in critical condition after he was trapped between his vehicle and a wall in Birżebbuġa, yesterday morning.
Angelo Muscat, 67, from Ħamrun, parked the truck in Sant’Anġlu Street early to collect the rubbish deposited on the pavement. As Mr Muscat was picking up the refuse bags, the vehicle moved forward and trapped him against the wall of a house.
The owner of the house found Mr Muscat caught between the truck and her house, police sources said.
Duty Magistrate Miriam Hayman appointed experts to help her in an inquiry.

I do hope that Mr Muscat recovers from his injuries.
Few appreciate the dangers of working with heavy machinery or the good service that many of our refuse collectors undertake to try and keep the Island tidy.

I hope that the gentleman involved gets better but at 67, should he still have been working?
