Contribution to the euro area broad money increases
The Maltese contribution to the euro area broad money stock increased by €4.1 million in June, compared to the previous month, reaching €8,604.4 million. Consequently, the annual rate of growth of the Maltese contribution to euro area picked up to 0.2 per cent in June from -1.7 per cent in May.
The narrow money component increased by €84.3 million, or 2.1 per cent, during the month, as a rise in overnight deposits was partly offset by a drop in currency issued.
