Hibs Medsea started their women's league title defence in style with a comfortable victory over newcomers St Andrew's as the first matches from the women's league were played last weekend.
Luxol and McDonalds Depiro, the other major contenders for Hibs' crown, also chalked up victories on their first league outings over Athleta and Starlites Sports Experience respectively.
Against the Saints, Hibs made sure in the opening quarter which they won 20-4.
The champions barely gave their modest opponents the chance to manoeuvre so much so that until half-time St Andrew's failed to pot another point as the score stood 43-4 for Hibs.
With victory all but secured, Hibs lifted their foot off the pedal after lemon time, allowing St Andrew's to see more of the ball even though they were unable to avoid an embarrassing defeat - 77-21.
After their fine showings in the MBA Shield, Luxol stayed on the right track with a 59-33 victory over neighbours Athleta.
Again, Steffi Demartino was Luxol's best scorer on the day as they started to pull away to lead 33-14 at half-time after a balanced start.
With Athleta unable to apply any sort of pressure on Luxol, the latter had little difficulty in administering their advantage to wrap up victory.
Depiro were too good for Starlites as they forged ahead in the opening minutes to dictate matters all the way.
Already 33-19 ahead at the half-way stage, Depiro, led by Sarah Pace, went on to obtain a 54-33 victory.
