Obituary
FIORENTINO. On October 15, at St Vincent de Paul, EMILIA of Luqa, aged 81, widow of Edward, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss, her children Charlie and his wife Phyllis, Walter and his wife Jennifer, her nephew Brian and niece Anna Maria, her in-laws Paul and his wife Carmena, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves St Vincent de Paul Hospital tomorrow at 2.30 p.m. for St Andrew's parish church, Luqa, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 3 p.m. followed by interment at Luqa Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar Tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

Diabetes Federation Europe president
Chris Delicata has been elected president and regional chair of the International Diabetes Federation-European Region (IDF-Europe).
The work of the non-executive board of IDF Europe, one of the seven regions of the IDF Global, is complemented by a team of full-time employees and consultants in the regional office situated in Brussels.
Mr Delicata will serve as president until 2012. He is an active member in the Malta Diabetes Association and serves as its vice-president.
He is from St Julians and is married with three children.
School places for humanitarian cases
The Private Schools Association is offering a limited number of places to candidates who may be considered as humanitarian cases. Applications for these places can be submitted between November 9 and January 16, 2010. These applications can be made only at St Michael's School, Canon Road, Sta Venera SVR 9030. Candidates accepted will not sit for the Common Entrance Examination. Applications for the examination itself will be accepted in January 2010.
Farewell lunch for High Commissioner
The Friends of Australia Association, Gozo Branch, will give a farewell lunch on Sunday for the Australian High Commissioner in Malta at the El Dorado Restaurant, George Borg Olivier Street, Victoria. Manikata pumpkin fair
The second edition of the Pumpkin Fair will be held in Manikata on Sunday, opening an age-old village tradition to the public. The activity starts at 10 a.m. near the Manikata Church, and includes music, drama and dance. For more information, visit www.manikatafarmers.com.
Ballroom dancing
Ballroom dancing will be held at the Corinthia Palace Hotel, Attard, starting on Sunday, between 8.30 and 11.30 p.m. The programme will include line dancing, Latin, sequence and ballroom dancing, and will be led by Connie and Espedito Spiteri.
Mission Fund tea

Birkirkara bazaar
A bazaar will be held at the St Helen Parish Centre, Birkirkara, between November 3 and 11 from 9 a.m. till noon and from 4.30 to 7 p.m. On Sunday, the bazaar will only open in the morning.
