Venezuelan vice-president Ramon Carrizalez told reporters the men were found with bullet wounds in various parts of Tachira. One of the 12 men survived the ordeal, while another was still missing.
Rangers: Rangers confirmed they had received "tentative enquiries" regarding the sale of the club but had yet to receive a formal offer. The Glasgow giants issued a statement in which they also insisted they would not be forced to sell any players in the January transfer window.

Athletics: World 100 metres silver medallist Tyson Gay has successfully undergone surgery on a painful groin problem that hampered him during much of the athletics season, his manager said. Mark Wetmore told Reuters minor surgery had taken place on both sides of Gay's groin in Philadelphia on Friday. He said the American sprinter should be able to start light training in December after a month's rehabilitation and be fully recovered in time for next year's outdoor season.
Tennis: Italy's Francesca Schiavone eased to her second career title with a 6-3 6-0 thrashing of Belarussian Olga Govortsova in the Kremlin Cup final yesterday. After a nervous first set, where both players had trouble holding their serve, the eighth seed ran away with the second as 67th-ranked Govortsova was hampered by a painful rib injury. The 29-year-old Italian, whose only other title was in Bad Gastein in 2007, screamed in delight after putting away the last point. In the men's final, home favourite Mikhail Youzhny beat sixth-seeded Serb Janko Tipsarevic 6-7 6-0 6-4.
