Capello angers Italians
England coach Fabio Capello angered some of his fellow Italians today when he said ultra hardcore fans were ruining Serie A.
"The ultras do what they want. In the stadium they insult everyone," Capello told reporters at an Italian sports seminar, adding that stadiums in Spain and England were more family friendly.
Italian Olympic Committee chief Gianni Petrucci was one of a number of Italian sports officials to hit back, saying: "It is absolutely not true. It is easy to talk from up high."
Capello also sympathised with Italy coach Marcello Lippi, who has been heavily criticised in the media for overlooking in-form Sampdoria playmaker Antonio Cassano.
"I have (Michael) Owen, I also have a tormentor. Everyone has one," Capello said.
The England coach did not select Owen during World Cup qualification and the Manchester United striker has a difficult task to make it into the squad for South Africa 2010.

If you are talking about Gerrard , remember Capello also doubted that he was injured , he sent his own medical team to check on him and found out that he was really injured and could not plan. Atleast he has a lot more international caps than Ryan Giggs. Now thats a player that had a lot of "injuries" . Always forced not to play by "sir" fergie. By the way I accuse because I'm 100% right.

It is simply pathethic of you to mention only the premiership as if in England football started when the league changed its name to Premiership. If you want to count you have to count everything my friend! But I don`t blame you to start counting the leagues you won when the Premiership began because before that you won too little compared to Liverpool. Those days you really were a sub-standard team my friend compared to Liverpool which had already built a history in the story of football!

I think that il signor Capello is trying to take the mickey when comparing Cassano's scintillating performances this season with Owen's sporadic appearances .

@ Kevin Sammut.
Ha ha!!! I guess mentioning the players' names is useless...you know them already. Wasn't talking about the past month any way... By the way, I don't accuse - i just insinuate...big difference my friend. In any case at least you gave owen some merit in your previous comment, unlike the other liverpool chap :-) Enjoy last Sunday's win. I definetely can't!!!! Maybe next time ux.

@K Zammit
who are these players that you are accusing of fake injuries? please make a list and I'll give you an answer.I think you got it mixed up , liverpool send their players fit and they came back injured after the international break, like Gerrard who missed Sunday's game and Torres , who was not a 100 % fit but still scored a good goal .

@Kevin Sammut
Losing is not a problem :-) It's winning trophies at the end of the season that counts :-) Not worried at all about last Sunday. I'm already seeing the red devils lifting at least one trophy at the end of the season! And looking forward to seeing owen in the national team. At least he is trying his best to be involved. Other players get 'injured' for England matches and play for liverpool the following weekend. What a shame. LOL.

These Ultra hardcore fans are a menace to italian football and instead of being angry with Capello they should deal with these fools.As for Owen , good players don't become bad players over night. Right now he is not in the England squad because there are better players then him, but things could change by the end of the season. As for Mr. Sargent comments a team that won 11 premier titles in the last 16 years does not make them a sub standard team, it was more a sub standard performance on Sunday.To be fair , Owen played better then Berbatov , united record signing at 30.7 million, little micky was a free transfer.And to K Zammit , relax my friend , stop your whining , you lost get over it.

@kris sargent
He also knows Beckham from that time you are mentioning (at Madrid) and not only does he come in as a sub at his age in almost all matches but he also scores, sets others to score and wins the player of the match in half an hour...He also plays for a mediocre team in the USA, never mind Manchester United. Sub-standard team? Count the amount of premiership leagues Liverpool have won ever since its creation and you'll know exactly who is the substandard team, my friend. Just a little help...NONE!!! By the way...who's currently heading the race? Who's second? Definetely not the Sunday winning team.

The size of the crowds in the two countries speak for themselves. Clubs in the third tier of English football have more support than most top flight Italian teams.
Fans in Italy mimmick English fans from the 70's and that is a major reason why nobody goes.

Capello didn't anger Italians, but angered the "honest" (sic!) persons like Abete & Petrucci who's in command. The Rome derby that was postponed on Ultra' orders some years ago comes to mind.
