A lamp post toppled onto a parked jeep in Rue D'Argens, Msida, after a 20-year-old man from Birżebbuġa driving a BMW lost control, hit a centre strip and careened into the pole at around 3 a.m. yesterday. The young driver got off with slight injuries.

You are perfectly correct. The dealers are taking up scarce parking spaces illegally and no action seems to be taken against them while drivers are hounded everywhere. Same appears to be happening in Zabbar from where I happen to pass several times with dealers occupying parking spaces in the Zabbar Bypass leading to Marsascala and also near the Dominican nuns children institute. It's about time wardens stopped hounding drivers and turn their attention to car dealers.

hmm . . . pretty hefty structure that pole . . . would take quite a bit to topple it like that! As for 'losing control' on a perfectly straight road . . . in dry conditions (?) is it just possible that the person was driving at an atrociously excessive speed and in a dangerous fashion??? Responsible people don't lose control of a vehicle for no reason and it's about time news articles like this one were more factual and to the point so as to highlight the dangers of dangerous driving and excessive speed to the general public . . . if that was what caused the accident in this case ! !

I fail to understand how anyone can lose control on that stretch of road on a dry night, unless (a) the car's steering mechanism suddenly and spectacularly failed, (b) they were going too fast, or (c) they were drunk.
I wonder which it was?

Notice the red labels across several cars. Most likely the cars are up for sale. I thought this practice is illegal. If so Authorities please note!
