I'm not surprised that Marisa Micallef defected to the Labour Party. She's not the first person to do so and I'm sure she will not be the last.

What I cannot understand and accept is how Joseph Muscat and the Labour Party took her on board, even appointing her as a member of the selected few personal advisers to the leader.

Most Labour supporters are disgusted and feel humiliated. They cannot believe that Ms Micallef who, for many years, relentlessly attacked and ridiculed Alfred Sant, Jason Micallef and all that Labour stood for, has now been accepted within the party as if she were a new Messiah.

I would like to ask Dr Muscat: Wasn't it possible that within the party there was no one capable of doing Ms Micallef's job?

If the answer is no, as seems obvious, it is no wonder Labour has lost five out of six general elections in these last 22 years!
