Sliema Wanderers 2

Dingli Swallows 0

Sliema Wanderers failed to set any houses on fire but were still good enough to lower the colours of a battling Dingli Swallows side by two clear goals.

It was low-key performance from the Wanderers who despite taking an early lead through a Lucian Dronca 15th minute penalty they failed to click into gear. Instead it was Dingli who threatened to turn the match in their favour and inspired by the strong running of Andre Rocha Da Silva and Joseph Okonkwo they caused some anxious moments to the Sliema defence but were let down by some poor finishing.

Dingli's hopes were ended on 62 minutes in somewhat controversial circumstances when goalkeeper Jeffrey Farrugia was adjudged by the assistant referee to have blocked Matthew Bartolo's cross-shot from behind his goal-line much to the frustration of the the Dingli clan.

Sliema's Josef Mifsud was voted the BOV Player of the match.
