Government to announce measures to settle overdue payments for land
The government intends to shortly announce measures to address the payment of compensation to owners of expropriated property, Parliamentary Secretary Jason Azzopardi has said.
The payments run into millions of euro and have accumulated for over 40 years.
In an interview with Kurt Sansone, Dr Azzopardi also spoke on new rights being given under amendments to the expropriation law, the saga on the termination of the lease of the property used by the PL in Siggiewi, and the controversy over Finance Minister Tonio Fenech's private trip abroad with leading entrepreneurs.
He also insisted that no one in the PN had asked him to stand in the fifth district, the district from which MP Franco Debono is elected. A newspaper last week said Dr Azzopardi may stand on that district in order to oust Dr Debono.

My advise to Parliamentary Secretary Jason Azzopardi is to leave all as is and to transfer the responsibility to the European Court of Justice.
The Government of Malta, in the first instance, created this gross injustice.
Only more injustices can be created if the same government intervienes at this point in time.
Please do not create more injustices.
Thank You.

Jason wish you make this in the best way for all! This is very fair, what belong to the government has to be paid, but what is owed to tax payers has to be paid as well. Hope we don't see the common scenario of government promissing, while he actuate it will be a week before the election.
