Feasting on chocolate
Hundreds of people last night feasted their eyes and their taste buds on chocolate in a Festival of Chocolate held in Hamrun.
The activity included displays on the history of chocolate in its many varieties, models and designs made of chocolate, re-enactments of the serving of a chocolate drink during the time of the Knights and entertainment. The models included a 12-foot model of a train made of 75kg of chocolate. The work took 127 man hours to complete.
The festival was hosted by Hamrun local council to recall the time when Hamrun used to have several chocolate warehouse.

Why are occassions like this not advertised more often !!!. I would have liked to attend such an event but unfortunately didnt know about it. A similar event is held in Torino every year and always very well attended. Maybe teven here in Malta this could be a yearly event and also next time on the week end as I am sure it will be a popular event. Is there a website where all events are shown.

Thanks to all those who came! As one of the people who helped organise it, and knowing the lass at the start, I can assure you it was no walk in the park, but seeing all those people enjoying themselves really made all the effort worth it.
Joe Fenech:
Actually, the tradition being celebrated was the introduction of chocolate in Malta by the Knights of the Order, wherein most of the chocolate stores of the Island were kept in Hamrun; having one of the largest concentration of pastry makers of the country, our town has definitely kept up the tradition. Also, 'hilarious' is spelt just like that. Dictionaries are your friend :D

The same like helena i strongly agree with daniel!!! We were there for a whole day (18hrs of non stop work), all food was prepared with attention and we proved that chocolate doesnt only result in obesity!! I think it was a succesful event and i'm sure that many people enjoyed it! In the coming weeks more activities similar to these are gna be held and i'm looking forward and hope that the outcome will be the same!!! Great experience !!!!
10x to all who attended!!!

I agree with Daniel. The amount of work put into this event was huge. As their lecturer I was present throughout the entire week..... I am sorry to see that not everyone appreciate the fact that innovative ways of eating chocolate was presented. We the people who cooked the stuff hardly ate any of it. This proves that obesity is found in people who's will is not a strong one to submit to temptation. I encourage you to come to other similar festivals .... they all have the same type of queues... being chocolate, lampuki, pumpkin or any other thing.

What puts me off in this country is always the crazy amount of people attending these one day events (where i can confirm again from the video clip) including the typical chaotic queues of people who want to get to the counter before the rest to try out whatever there is on offer...having events done over a weekend for these sort of occasions will always reduce the amount by half and make everyone's outing a more pleasant and less frustrating one. That saying, I'm sure this was a good and original festival in it's principality.

Didn't know about it, is it possible such events will be more promotional. When is the next one? Is there a website for such events? And for those who doesn't want to eat chocolate DON'T GO. I'm sure it was a lovely event.

To J Pace, I really think your message is irrelevant. People who are obese is because of themselves. I was one of the ITS students who worked 18 hours that day to do my bit to ensure a successful night. It was to show how diverse chocolate can be and to celebrate it. And regarding obesity, try out a diet!!!

In modern life we all isolated ourselves, and any good reason for getting together in peace, is welcomed in a modern society. All that is necessary is to control and do everything in moderaton. Prosit to the organisers, people getting together in peace is the most sought component of human life. Note , do not give any chocholate to DOGS as their digestive system is not designed for it , one can kill a dog by giving it a dollop and high portion of chocholate consumption, I believe.
