Venezuelan authorities arrested four Indians suspected of killing two of their fellow tribe members.

Justice Minister Tareck El Aissami said police are searching for three other suspects, who are also members of the Yukpa Indian tribe community located near a mountain range bordering Colombia.

Shortly after the October 13 killings, a Yukpa representative blamed local ranchers for the shooting deaths.

Tensions between ranchers and Indian tribes have been growing in the lawless region in recent months because of a government initiative to demarcate ancestral Indian territories.

Mr El Aissami denied the killings were related to the demarcation process.
