Two foreigners have been arrested following a cocaine find yesterday afternoon.
The police said the drug - around 420 grammes of cocaine in 12 small and one large capsules, was found by members of the Drug Squad hidden in a room at a St Paul’s Bay hotel.
The room was occupied by a 41-year-old German woman resident in Spain.
The woman arrived in Malta yesterday morning on a direct flight from Gerona in Spain. She entered Malta with a document belonging to another person.
When the woman was arrested, she was still carrying another 18 capsules in her stomach.
This meant that the woman had brought to Malta some 600 grammes of cocaine.
Following further investigations, the police this afternoon arrested a 22-year-old Nigerian who holds a Maltese identity card and who resides in St Paul’s Bay. The cocaine the woman was carrying was intended for delivery to this man.
The two are expected to be arraigned in court in the coming days.
Magistrate Silvio Meli is holding an inquiry.
