All local councils are to become more accessible following an exercise by the parliamentary secretariat which will see the offices install more facilities for the disabled and opening on Saturdays.

This was said during a news conference by the National Commission for Persons with a Disability this morning to launch an updated version of listings of services for the disabled.

The updated version comes in books in Maltese and English, in concise, easier to read versions of these books and in a DVD. They were launched at the Msida council office, one of the most accessible local council offices in Malta.

The listings are also available on the NCPD’s website and through local councils.

NCPD president Joseph Camilleri said that the number of services for the disabled was continuously rising because of an increase in awareness.
