Jailed for selling drugs which led to man's death

Adrian Bianchi, 32, was this morning jailed for six years and fined €7,000 after he was found guilty of the involuntary homicide of 24-year-old Jason Sammut of Birkirkara on August 2, 2000.

Mr Sammut had died from a drug overdose. He had been found dead in his bedroom. Another man, Leon David Madden was also found unconscious.

Mr Madden testified that he had shared drugs he had bought from Mr Bianchi with Mr Sammut.

Magistrate Audrey Demicoli said there was no doubt that Mr Sammut’s death had been caused by an overdose of heroin, which drug had been supplied by Mr Bianchi.

She also found the accused guilty of drug trafficking and possession of heroin.
