I have just booked a ticket to Rome with Airmalta for 99 euros. I can't understand all the fuss about low cost airlines when with that money I get excellent service, high level of safety and 20 kilos of luggage with Airmalta plus a good meal, a glass of wine, tea and coffee and soft drinks almost as much as I want!!! I'M VERY PROUD OF OUR AIRLINE.

The government offers subsidies to all airlines operating to certain destinations. It simply happens that only low cost airlines choose to operate on these routes.

Has no one heard of HIGH season and LOW season??? Try and book a hotel during the Christmas season and compare with begining of say FEB and see what you get. Every airline today operate using Revenue management systems which sell seats according to the expected demand (based on seasonality and historic sales) and also actual demand (based on sales). This is the same for low cost (apart from the subsidies that is)

Real difference between low cost and Air Malta is that the the government forks out tax payer's money to subsidize low cost airlines. That is why they can afford to offer the very low tickets on some routes.
Once again if someone here believes you can fly a boeing 737 from Italy or anywhere else on 10 euro per seat ( around 1700 euros per sector) needs his head examined.

@ Mary Louis - I don't know what hidden costs you are talking about when you fly with low costs airline cause there isn't anything hidden. Every service you take you clearly have to pay for. If you want to add luggage you pay for it. If you want to eat/drink on the plane you pay for it. Other airlines such as LH, Air Malta, etc have everything included in the price which is fair enough. The only thing I wonder about is how their price is calculated....
@ Marbert Aquilina - What better service are you getting from Air Malta? A drink and a sandwich 'for free' on the plane'? That you can choose your seat before? I'd rather pay less and choose myself what extra service I want and pay for it. And if their safety comes with a cost how come other airlines (and not only low cost airlines) don't have such high costs...
And to both.... low cost airlines are not saving money on their safety cause that's crucial.they cannot afford one thing and that's saving on safety.

@Mary Lewis
I strongly agree that AirMalta give a better service. Whoever flies AirMalta knows that safety is given top priority, and safety comes with a cost. I think that KM management has to adapt to new marketing strategies especially with last minute bookings. To do so, there is no need to engage any 'foreign' people, paying them hundreds of thousands of euros to issue some simple statements which we heard years ago..............
Bon Voyage...

Mr. Spencer its not only the UK that are doubled for the Christmass period but just about every other country that AirMalta flies to, so you are not on your own to enquire why., my guess is that the staff want their xmas bonus same as any other person in employment, or maybe they see us coming knowing we got no choice but to dip deeper into our pockets and fork out the asking price for this period, saying this i think Airmalta is the Best aircraft not only for the service they provide but also a safer airline then any of these cheapies with thier hidden costs, still its up to you to find out, i don't have to i know which i prefer. Happy Xmas.

Does Air Malta have a General Enquiries section ?? Just want to know why Air Malta flights to the UK are double the price of other flights, over the Xmas period. PLEASE no comments about a better service, because that is not so !!

I think its about time Airmalta came up with a solution due luck of passengers, only yesterday i flew back home from Schipool and i counted just 40 passengers on board, the rest were just empty seats, that shows that air fare to and from malta are still above average even for this time of the year
