Travel movements
I refer to the article Government Complains To Tunisia Over Intensive Searches Of Travellers (October 21).
The security measures imposed by the airports in Tunisia with regard to Maltese travellers departing from Tunisia, as referred to in the article, do not reflect the true picture.
In fact, security measures taken with regard to departures to Malta are carried out on all departing passengers irrespective of nationality to guarantee the safety of the aircraft and the passengers themselves.
The main reason for this is to prevent any illegal or dangerous items from being taken on board Malta-bound aircraft.
The Embassy of Tunisia avails itself of this opportunity to stress that Tunisia will reserve a warm welcome to the Maltese nationals who go there for tourism or business.

If the same security measures are made on all nationals and to all destinations than it is ok.
For information. All eu citizens (including maltese) can travel with a valid id card to all eu countries including UK without the need for a passport. As I said the id must be valid. For under 18 travelling especially to UK with id they need written parents consent as they are considered as minors.
