The ASA Swimming Board has just presented awards to the winners of the 2008/2009 swimming league.

Mark Galea, Swimming Board chairman and ASA vice-president, handed trophies to Neil Agius, of Sliema, and Melinda Sue Micallef, of Neptunes, the top performers in the Open category.

Neptunes duo Robert Micallef and Nikki Muscat were the best juniors in their class and the Cadets category winners also came from Neptunes - Zachary Tabone and Michaela Millo.

These swimmers amassed the highest number of points in the time-trial meets and other competitions held by the ASA during the season.

The aggregate shield also went to Neptunes. In the final standings, they were followed by Sliema and Iasis.

Meanwhile, Neil Agius and team-mate Andrea Agius will take part in the British Gas ASA Masters and Senior Age Group Championships this weekend.

The meet, a short course, will be held at Sheffield, Ponds Forge.
