Cospicua man found not guilty of shooting at his father
Charles Debono, 45 of Cospicua, was today acquitted of shooting in the direction of his father Carmelo, two other men and a boy after a court declared that there was no evidence that a gun had been fired.
Carmelo Debono had reported to the police on June 21, 1998 that his son had shot in his direction during a heated argument.
However Magistrate Audrey Demicoli noted that the police had found no gunshot residue on Charles Debono despite taking swabs soon after the alleged incident. Nor was any gun or bullets ever found.

Mr Caruana,
Its very simple. In this case Mr Charles Debono is now a ruined man shadowed by the case of shooting his own father (even if he is found guilty).
If its true that one is innocent until found guilty, shouldn't his name be safeguarded until the case is closed?
I'm sure that there won't be anyone from the law courts answering this one, from a Rule of Law perspective that is.

This has been said too many times already in relation to court cases, but, really, 11 years to figure out that no gun was fired......unbelievable!!!

So why did the Police take this man to court ?
Same thing happened to me, somebody made a report about me about an ownership of a piece of land and the police never bothered to check facts. !!!
Now after 3 and a half years of going to court i was found not guilty. Even the magistare asked why i was accused..
And yet 7 years ago my home was burglared and in 7 years i have never heard anything from the police !!! NEVER NOT EVEN ONCE ..........
And what about the papers having named this man when he was accused ? Is it right that an innocents man is published ?
