Air Malta withdraws allegations on GWU official

Allegations blaming vandalism on the car of an Air Malta official on a member of the GWU workers' committee have been withdrawn, the GWU said.

The allegations were made a week ago during a meeting on the revision of workers' collective agreement. The union had deplored the incident but called for the allegations to be withdrawn warning that unless this was done it would take all the necessary action, including legal, to defend the integrity of people forming part of its delegations.

The GWU said in a statement this morning it was still waiting for Air Malta's reply on two proposals it submitted regarding outsourcing and forced redundancies. These were the two main hurdles which were hindering the continuation of negotiations on the collective agreement.
