Air Malta withdraws allegations on GWU official
Allegations blaming vandalism on the car of an Air Malta official on a member of the GWU workers' committee have been withdrawn, the GWU said.
The allegations were made a week ago during a meeting on the revision of workers' collective agreement. The union had deplored the incident but called for the allegations to be withdrawn warning that unless this was done it would take all the necessary action, including legal, to defend the integrity of people forming part of its delegations.
The GWU said in a statement this morning it was still waiting for Air Malta's reply on two proposals it submitted regarding outsourcing and forced redundancies. These were the two main hurdles which were hindering the continuation of negotiations on the collective agreement.

Why are you surprised Mr. Borg.
Most of the Times readers resent and detest the G.W.U and are blinded by prejudice and hatred towards the Dockyard workers. It pains me because I am ex dockyard worker.
Imagine if it was the G.W.U. who damaged the reputation of an Air Malta official..
Witness how a bunch of fanatics reacted on the Times blog when it was revealed that a contract signed by the Dockyard management, appointed by Austin Gatt, cost Malta 8O million liri (The G.WU. claims that Malta lost much more)?
Instead of lambasting Austin Gatt who things he has the midas touch, these fanatics absolved him and unleasshed a vitruolic attack against the the Dockyard workers for being subsidized in the tune of 3OO million Liri. No one reminded the Times readers that the largest number of workers killed on the job were from the Dockyard.
That subsidy provided work for 5OOO head of families and l5,OOO other ancillary jobs. Now it only employs about 2OO and because of sheer incomptence or by design, lost 8O million on a single contract. . The man who was responsible was never seen again. . Find him and arrest him.

Surprisingly enough nobody is commenting now! A previous article claiming that a GWU official has allegedly caused an incident had quite a lot of hits and posts.
