In his talking point entitled Facts, First And Foremost (October 19) Lino Spiteri wrote "Yes, it must have been Labour thugs who made the 1979 Black Monday attacks".
Very conveniently Mr Spiteri left out other equally if not more important facts. That: 1) It was a Labour government of which he was a minister that allowed these thugs to operate how, when and where they wanted; 2) It was the same government who never brought any prosecutions against these thugs even though some of them were well known by Labour ministers. These thugs were sometimes even accompanied by Labour protagonists and the police; 3) Black Monday was not an isolated occurrence but a part of a shameful long list of criminal activities which trampled upon any type of human right that stood in the way of that infamous government; 4) The Nationalist Opposition leader's house was not just ransacked, members of his family were terrorised while he was doing his duty in Parliament; 5) No Labour minister or member of Parliament considered these above facts serious enough to resign as a protest or as a sign of strong disagreement with the prevailing policy of "sponsored" terrorism.
The title of the article was an insult to all the victims of that dark period in our history.
