The Malta men's national team won the tournament for European small nations for the first time since 1997 last weekend after having the better of Liechtenstein, Luxembourg and Monaco at the Marsa Sports Club.
The team, coached by Ivan Balzan, was composed of Brad Hindle Deguara, Mike Fiteni, James Bonello Ghio, Steven Schranz, Bernard Bugeja and Steve Rizzo.
They turned in a brilliant performance, only dropping four sets out of a possible 60.
The result augurs well for the GSSE 2011 in Liechtenstein where squash will be in the competitions calendar.
In singles, Malta's top two players, Hindle Deguara and Fiteni, made it all the way to the final with the former winning the contest 3-0 to complete a great week for the Maltese men.
The presentation of medals and trophies was held at the Capua Palace.
Malta Squash president Liz Said distributed the trophies along with Christer Gustafsson, of Squash Club D'Elite, and Arthur Castillo, of Vascas Jewellers.
