Piggy Banks for l-Istrina

The piggy bank campaign to collect money for l-Istrina was formally launched today by the chairman of the Community Chest Fund, Margaret Abela at her old school - Maria Assumpta in Hamrun.

The campaign, sponsored by Bank of Valletta, encourages students to donate some of their pocket money to people in need. The amount of money collected will then by matched by Bank of Valletta and presented during l-Istrina.

L-Istrina will be held on December 26 in a hangar of Lufthansa Tecknik.

A total of 5,000 piggy banks have been distributed in 204 schools in Malta and Gozo.

Mrs Abela’s visit to Maria Assumpta was followed by another to De La Salle College in Vittoriosa. She will be visiting other schools over the next few days. Schools not visited by Mrs Abela will be visited by other personalities.

Just over €250,000 were collected through the BOV Piggy Bank Campaigns in the past five years.
