Not everybody has the courage to make the same gesture as Joseph Muscat did. Not everybody has the guts to take full responsibility for the behaviour of others and more than that, actually apologise for the actions that were committed.

Not everybody loves his country so much that he is prepared to apologise for the sins of others that went against the common citizen of the same country. Not everybody is Joseph Muscat.

What Dr Muscat did by publicly apologising for what happened in the burning of The Times and when the house and family of Eddie Fenech Adami and family were violated, will go down in history as being the humble and honourable gesture of a very fine man.

It was noble because Dr Muscat never for a single minute bothered about the fact that the Nationalist party had so much to apologise for, yet never did.

No Nationalist ever showed sorrow when a Labourite was not allowed a decent burial just because he was Labourite. There were never any apologies concerning the men in blue jackets who brought terror and fear in the hearts of many Labourites; there were no apologies when during a doctors' political strike in the late 1970s, a bright young child by the name of Karen Grech was murdered.

I wonder whether the Nationalists know what a conscience is or if to them, it is just another word in the dictionary. I wonder if their past hurts them or whether they think that they were all saviours of our land?

I wonder if Lawrence Gonzi will ever find it in himself to do what Dr Muscat did, unless he actually thinks his party should be given the Nobel prize for peace like Barack Obama?

Today, I know more than ever what kind of person Dr Muscat is; today more than ever I am proud to be a Labourite.

I wonder, like I have wondered a thousand times before, what the Nationalists have to be proud of when there is not one man for all reasons among the ministers who "adorn" the party.
