Melita CEO's term ends

Melita chief executive officer Stephen Wright is nearing the end of his term and will be handing over to chief operations officer Andrei Torriani by the end of the year, Melita said yesterday.

Mr Torriani joined Melita as managing director of Melita Mobile and chief operating officer of Melita plc in July.

He previously led Telefonica O2's consumer-focused telecommunications business in the Czech Republic covering a portfolio of advanced mobile, broadband, fixed telephony and pay TV services to over seven million customers. His experience includes several senior roles with telecom operators throughout Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

During his two years in Malta, first as chief operations officer and later as chief executive officer, Mr Wright lead Melita through the restructuring of the company's top management, rebranding Melita, the launch of Melita Mobile, the laying of a submarine fibre-optic cable connection between Malta and Sicily, and the consolidation of Melita's market position.
