Lyon sink Liverpool

A stoppage-time goal from Cesar Delgado handed Olympique Lyon a 2-1 victory over Liverpool at Anfield in their Champions League Group E tie on Tuesday.

Liverpool's hopes of progressing to the knockout stages suffered a serious setback when Delgado converted a cross from Sidney Govou.

The five-times European champions had overcome the loss of captain Steven Gerrard, who lasted 24 minutes in his comeback game before limping off injured, to take a 41st minute lead through Yossi Benayoun.

But Lyon substitute Maxime Gonalons headed a 72nd minute equaliser.
