More energy saving bulbs to be given to large residences
Extra energy saving bulbs will be given free to residences having more than 10 people, Resources Minister George Pullicino said today.
He made the announcement during a visit to the Ursoline Creche in Sliema, where more than 20 people live. The offer is also valid for institutes.
The minister said that vouchers for an additional 10 bulbs for every 10 residents would be given.
The distribution of energy saving bulbs by the government ends on October 31.

Dear all,
Thanks to the Minister GP but, allow me to point back this issue, I took my Energy Savers what the shops are offering, there is no selection, and should one ask for different wattage you receive a negative feed back.
Hence the Minstry should see to this as one ends up just taking the bulbs with any particular use for them.
Golf balla, warm white non existingm candel bulbs, don't ask for 9 watt as the ans will be that is what we got to give on the schiem.
I don't know my boggle me at time we either are going green or going red in the face.

I have informed/reminded the department TWICE (in mid September and again to-day) that my son Leonard Bonello (ID NO supplied) who was entitled for 8 bulbs DID NOT YET RECEIVE THE VOUCHER.The reply given to me today by an officer was quote " There are MANY other persons who did not receive the voucher he has to wait ! " unquote. As stated above the distribution of energy saving bulbs by the government ends on October 31.
I should like to draw the attention of the Hon Resources Minister George Pullicino TO FIND OUT THE REASON WHY SO MANY RESIDENCES HAVE NOT YET RECEIVED THE VOUCHER .

An after thought? maybe the promised sale / voucher exchange of the energy saving bulbs outcome wasn't as expected, too many are still left on the shelves at the expense of the shop owners! Doing publicity through charity?

Good job and well done Minister George Pullicino.
Another noble act is to exempt institutes from paying surcharge, or may be a full exempt of paying bill. Nobody can deny that these charity institutes need more financial help. This week I received a circulated e-mail originated from Ursoline Creche in Sliema, asking for baby Nappies as they have no funds to buy these essentials. So please all those reading help with nappies too.

The number of valves to be given again are mostly for nursing homes, private hospitals, private schools, religious convents, children's homes, people that the P.N. wants to keep their support. There was no need to point this out as being a generous offer by the P.N. Nobody would have disputed that children's homes, non paying old people houses or those that charge only a few euros. Was it necessary for G. Pullicino to give such a publicity. Old people's homes could have been included in the scheme by allowing at least on bulb for every inmate. Such as at the Little Sisters of the poor since it is not the building that is being targetted by the number of people. Or the Ursiline crêche and other similar institutes..Charity needs no publicity.Read the Holy Gospel.
Large houses are not to benefit because they are mostly occupied by a small number of people though they have more halls and rooms.
