I refer to the news item Rare Footage To Be Screened For Notte Bianca (October 2) and the online comments posted beneath it.

I have now acquired a copy of the DVD and, after carefully watching it through, I have confirmed that, as I feared, there is no mention whatsoever of March 31. September 21, by contrast, is featured prominently. I wonder whether Martin Bugelli, director general, Information, Local Government and Public Consultation, will be as quick to explain this glaring omission as he was to rebut my comments in regard to the above news item.

Failing this, one would be forced to conclude that this selectivity was deliberate and, in conjunction with recent remarks by the Prime Minister, is part of a campaign to denigrate this important date in Malta's political history and lay the ground for the imposition of September 21 as Malta's sole national day.
