On October 13 my UK bank converted £5,328 to euros at 1.0625. The rate quoted by HSBC Malta was 1.0414. This means that HSBC's rate was about two per cent inferior to that quoted in the UK and would have resulted in my receiving €112 less had I opted to use HSBC's services.

How can HSBC justify this?
