The University's Institute of Health Care (IHC) recently launched a radically new e-learning B.Sc. (Hons) in Health Science top-up degree for qualified health care professionals in any discipline.
The programme will be delivered via Web 2.0 and 3.0 technology rather than through classroom teaching and marks a paradigm shift in the institute's teaching and learning practices.
This e-learning pedagogy promotes flexibility in the learning and assessment processes, allowing participants the freedom to choose whether they wish to complete the programme in two, three or four years.
The programme's content is radically different from the institute's previous diploma-to-degree programmes.
All qualified health care professionals are eligible to pursue the programme, which is focused on developing critical thinkers, readers and writers rather than learning discipline-specific knowledge.
The programme's long-term goal is to enable different professionals and educators to teach and learn together, creating communities of learners which in time, will have a positive impact on the professional health care communities and the services they provide.
