The YWCA Malta Self-Development Programme is to reach out to women in need to try and help them improve and empower their lives through learning new skills. This may open up opportunities in life, give them easier access to the labour market and improve their standard of living.

The programme helps women through adult educational courses that cover literacy, basic computer skills, grooming, and dressmaking, home management and home economics.

A theoretical and practical dressmaking course, starting on October 26, will run to June, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the YWCA headquarters, 177 Valley Road, Msida. Lessons will be given by a professional tutor. A certificate of attendance will also be presented at the end of the course. The course is free.

Application forms can be obtained from the YWCA offices, Monday to Friday, between 10 a.m. and noon. For more information call 2131 4844 or 7900 2930.

Closing date is Friday.
